ROMANIA

Country Report, May 2019

Since the former General Assembly in our country there have not been many notable events. The wages increased in the month of 2018 have remained unchanged, so this chapter is the only performance made by the current government. Another electoral promise of current governors, linked to the construction of 8 major regional hospitals. plus a metropolitan hospital in the capital of the country, has remained unrealized. Even at this time, nothing is known about the fate of these projects or the source of funding. The current Minister of Health practices nocturnal controls in hospitals in the country, motivating that only the night has time to check the state of the health system. Following these controls, the ministry reports the results in press conferences, but there is no significant change. We mention that we are in the electoral campaign period. The negotiation process of the collective labor contract has come to a standstill since December there was not even a meeting to complete this important normative act. It should be noted that the legislation in our country compels the government and employers to start negotiating the collective labor contract, but there is no obligation to finalize the negotiations and no sanction for the non-conclusion of the negotiations. At the moment we are waiting for the resumption of negotiations.
